Sue Dunfield is seeking re-election as councillor for Bastard and South Burgess. Sue's family has lived on Big Rideau Lake since her grandfather bought property there in 1926. A graduate of Algonquin College's Recreation Leadership program, Sue began her career as director of parks and recreation for Sidney Township before moving her family to Portland. She went on to teach at the Elgin and District Nursery School, manage the Royal Bank branch in Newboro, and operate Rob's Corner Garage and Store for 16 years.

In 2003, she joined the Township of Rideau Lakes as manager of

community and leisure services, a role she held for 15 years. Working alongside more than 500 volunteers, she secured funding for the Delta ice rink, Kin Park's playground and sports facilities, Sand Lake Park upgrades, the Chaffey's Locks hall septic system and accessible washrooms, and Shillington Park's accessible playground.

First elected to council in 2022, Sue says her years as an employee, business owner and volunteer shape her approach to taxes, roads, communication and recreation for all ages.
