Ron Young Running for Mayor of Rideau Lakes
Ron Young and his wife have loved living here for the past 32 years. They have loved raising their children in the township, enjoying the lakes, the wildlife and the beautiful vistas.
Young has been involved in the local political scene for the past 13 years, increasingly with each passing year. He has organized and moderated candidates' meetings in two different elections, and he administers a community discussion page online.
Young has experience running meetings in his work life, beginning in the 1990s using Robert's Rules. He brought that knowledge to his volunteer life for 25 years with the Canadian Ski Patrol, bringing better order to executive meetings. He also brought those skills to his 22 years with the Chaffey's Area Lakes Association in various director positions, including president for one four-year term and again for a three-year term. These meetings were more casual, but the structure remained in place.
"Our local government needs to change," Young said. He believes he has
the skills and experience to help change the atmosphere and direction and lead the township in the right direction to facilitate that change.
"I appreciate your support," Young said.
